Super Nail Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Blast Bros. for Wii U , collectively referred to as Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U [nb 1], and colloquially referred to as Super Smash Bros. 4 , are entries in the Super Smash Bros. released in 2014 on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U respectively. The 3DS entry marks the series' kickoff handheld game in the series. Information technology is also the first Super Smash Bros. series game to feature an Animal Crossing-related playable grapheme, specifically Villager, whose appearance is based on the male player from Animal Crossing: Metropolis Folk. Additionally, Isabelle, the mayor's assistant who debuted in Brute Crossing: New Leafage, makes an appearance in the game as an Assist Trophy.

Villager is a new fighter representing the Beast Crossing serial in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. They are a starting character in both versions of Super Smash Bros. 4. They were formally revealed in Super Blast Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U first trailer, revealing alongside Mega Man and Wii Fit Trainer.
Villager makes utilise of several items, tools, and mechanics throughout the Animal Crossing series, including references to other games. Their neutral attack involves pulling out boxing gloves possibly referencing Punch-Out!. They use an Umbrella to swing every bit their forwards tilt, waves a stick as their up tilt, and pulls weed out for their downward tilt.

Super Blast Bros. for Wii U features two stages based on the Beast Crossing series: Boondocks and City and Smashville, which returns from Super Smash Bros. Ball. In addition, Tortimer Island appears as a stage in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.
